Prominent journalist Sedef KABAS arrested on grounds of insulting President ERDOGAN

Sedef KABAS, a prominent female journalist whose statement was taken by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office and sent to the sentry magistrate’s office with a request for arrest on charges of “insulting the President”, was arrested.

An investigation was launched by the Istanbul Anadolu Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalist Sedef KABAS due to the words she had used for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Prosecutor General’s Office decided that the file was unauthorized due to the fact that the television channel where the defamation crime was committed was in Sarıyer and sent it to the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office. As part of the investigation, police teams went to Kabaş’s home in Sarıyer at about 02:00 last night and took her into custody. The journalist was brought to the Istanbul Justice Palace located in Çağlayan after his operations at the Istanbul Police Department.

After procedure at the prosecutor’s office, Kabaş was referred to the Istanbul Magistrate’s Office on duty with a request to be arrested for “insulting the President”. KABAS who appeared before the judge, was arrested and sent to prison after her statement.
