Women are waiting for cancellation of decision to withdraw from Istanbul Convention

In the lawsuit filed with the request to cancel the decision to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Council of State expressed an opinion saying “the decision is unlawful and should be canceled”.

The women, who have been fighting with determination for months, welcomed this development with joy and said ”We are not giving up on the Istanbul Convention.” Women are now waiting for the cancellation of this unlawful decision, which threatens their right to life.

The Istanbul Convention, which was approved in Parliament quite a while ago, was withdrawn by the President’s decree issued at midnight in March last year, and the decision which attracted a lot of reaction, was taken to the judiciary. While concerned Council of State Office rejected the request to stop the execution, appeals against this decision were also not accepted. After that, the file was essentially discussed.
