“The Mesopotamia Express” completes its promotional tour

Turkey’s new tourist train, the “Mesopotamia Express,” has completed its promotional tour. Travel enthusiasts embark on a journey from Ankara to Diyarbakır, where they have the opportunity to see the natural beauty, historical sites, and cultural heritage of the Inner, Eastern, and Southeastern Anatolian regions.

Prior to its inaugural journey on April 19th, the tourist train conducted a promotional tour along its route from Ankara to Diyarbakır. During the tour, the train departed from Ankara and made stops in Kayseri, Malatya, and Elazığ before reaching Diyarbakır approximately one day later. Passengers enjoyed the scenic views of nature along the route and had the chance to explore the cities where breaks were taken. Participants visited historical sites in the region and sampled local delicacies and had the opportunity to purchase local products.

Welcoming the tourist train, Mehmet Kaya, the President of the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the significant advantage of the “Mesopotamia Express” for promoting the city. He stated, “The ‘Mesopotamia Express’ will showcase the beauties of our country from Ankara to Diyarbakır and contribute to the cities it stops in.”

Participants express satisfaction with the journey

One of the passengers expressed that participating in the tour was something they had eagerly wanted to do and that the journey offered them a unique experience. Another passenger mentioned their love for travel and discovering new things in different cities, highlighting the comfort and ideal experience the journey provided, especially for travelers.

Another passenger mentioned attending the trip with a friend and likened the experience to traveling through time. They expressed their enjoyment, stating, “It has been on my plans for a long time. I had a great time.”

Journeys commence on April 19th

The first journey covering a 1051-kilometer route, organized by TCDD Transportation Inc., is expected to depart from Ankara on Friday, April 19th, at 15:55, with the return train departing from Diyarbakır on Sunday, April 21st, at 12:00.

The “Mesopotamia Express” consists of a total of 9 sleeping cars and 1 dining car with a capacity of 180 passengers. Those wishing to travel in two-person sleeping cars will pay 9,000 Turkish Lira for the outbound route and 8,000 Turkish Lira for the return route.

The two-person cabins in the cars can be converted from seats to beds for sleeping. The cabins offer various amenities tailored to passengers’ personal needs, including a refrigerator, lavatory, wardrobe, lighting, and heating.

Providing guests with a delightful journey amidst unique natural scenery, the tourist train will make three-hour stops in Kayseri and Malatya and a four-hour stop in Elazığ. The train journeys are expected to contribute to the regional economy, particularly in Diyarbakır.
