The ‘minimum wage’ issue in the system: Family doctor and nurse resignations may increase

Raising the minimum wage for family doctors is on the agenda. If this is the case, it can bring the system to the point of collapse. Family doctors, who already incurred loss by covering their protective equipment from their own pockets during the pandemic, now face the risk of not being able to cover both staff and health center expenses.

A doctor (member of board) from Istanbul Family Physicians Association (ISTAHED spoke to Diken media about the crisis that has come to the point of no solution. Noting that about 20 thousand personnel are at risk of dismissal, he warned that resignations from both family doctors and nurses might increase. At the final point, this means that the quality of services that will be provided to the citizen will also decrease.
