The number of foreign tourists visiting Istanbul increases by 112 percent

The number of foreign tourists arriving in Istanbul in March 2022 was 1 million 156 thousand 400, corresponding to an increase of 112 percent compared to the same month last year. According to the data of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, 2 million 904 thousand 460 foreign tourists visited Istanbul in the first 3 months of the year.

Istanbul which hosted 545 thousand 608 foreign tourists in March last year, was visited by 1 million 156 thousand 400 tourists in the same month of this year, corresponding to an increase of 112 percent.

1 million 153 thousand 138 of the tourists visited the city by air, and 3 thousand 262 of them by sea.

1281 visitors entered Istanbul from Ataturk Airport, 340 thousand 54 visitors from Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 811 thousand 803 visitors from Istanbul Airport in March. 70.40 percent who came by air used Istanbul Airport and 29.49 used Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
