Number of producers in organic agriculture in Turkey reaches 48 thousand
Turkey ranks number 3 in Europe and 12 in the world in number of people engaged in organic agricultural production and the number of farmers producing in this area in Turkey, has reached 48 thousand.
However, despite the increase in annual production to 1.6 million tons, companies engaged in production and supervision in this area complained of information pollution for the sector.
Some organizations operating in the field of organic agriculture made a joint statement and warned that information pollution and misleading consumer news had become widespread in the sector.
Turkey rose to the 5th place among the countries exporting to the European Union. The statement highlighted that control of all stages and the traceability of the production system in organic production was possible and statements made on hearsay information caused consumers to be informed incorrectly. In addition, the organizations that signed the statement were ready to answer all kinds of questions about organic agriculture.
