In Muğla, a small ferry route across the Dalyan Canal has created one of Turkey’s shortest and most unusual transport experiences, connecting Köyceğiz and Ortaca in just seconds.
A Ferry Ride That Replaces a Long Road Trip
Normally, travelling between Köyceğiz and Ortaca by road can take around 1.5 to 2 hours. However, the ferry crossing across the Dalyan Canal reduces this journey dramatically to between 50 seconds and 1.5 minutes, making it one of the fastest ferry connections in the country.
Operating since 2016, the ferry line provides a simple but highly efficient shortcut between the two sides of the canal.

The ferry service was originally introduced to improve access for residents of Çandır village, especially farmers who needed a faster connection for daily transport and agricultural work.

Operating from early morning until midnight, the ferries run continuously between Dalyan and Çandır. Each vessel can carry a small number of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, tractors, minibuses, and pedestrians.
The service is managed by the local Dalyan Boat Cooperative and plays an important role in easing regional traffic, especially during the busy summer season.

Located within a protected environmental zone, the ferry route passes through a rich natural landscape of reeds, water reflections, and bird habitats, turning a very short journey into a scenic experience.
