Tour Operators Association of Russia: Number of tourists coming to Turkey from Russia may fall to 2 million

Maya Lomidze, President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has said that the biggest obstacle for tourists coming to Turkey from Russia this summer is related to air transportation and air transportation should be supported at affordable prices. Lomidze noted that 4.7 million visitors had came to Turkey from Russia last year, and 80 percent of them were customers of tour operators.

Lomidze added following; “Although it is difficult to predict for this year for geopolitical reasons that change every day, if 2 million people are reached in 2022, it should be considered good.”

AIR TRAVEL IS BIGGEST OBSTACLE

Emphasizing that there would be a decrease in the number of tourists coming to Turkey from Russia, Lomzidze said, “A total of 4.7 million tourists came to Turkey from Russia last year, and 80 percent of them were customers of tour operators. We think that the biggest obstacle related to Turkey is related to airline travel. This year everything will depend on air transportation and prices. we cannot give an estimate for the 2022 results, geopolitical conditions are changing every day, but it will be considered good if 2 million people are reached.”
