FACILITIES IN ANTALYA READY TO OPEN

Following the controlled normalization decisions taken after the cabinet meeting of President Erdogan, tourism sector in Antalya started to show some activities again. Businesses are ready for the 2021 season with the safe tourism certificate they have received and Antalya, along with Russian tourists this year, is also expecting a strong demand from Turkish guests.

A top management person with the the Association of Professional Hotel managers (POYD) said that they wanted to open the facilities gradually, adding “We are now in the middle of March. It’s not long into the season.”

He went on to say, “In order to make it happen, our first priority is to extend the short-term work allowance for at least a few more months. Because the extension of the short-term work allowance will allow the facilities to be opened gradually. This will make the sector more dynamic.

There are too many facilities that didn’t open last year. Almost all of these facilities have to obtain a safe tourism certificate. All facilities of 30 rooms and above are obliged to have a safe tourism certificate before opening, as of January 1. Therefore, the facilities that were not opened last year have begun their preparations in this direction. Our facilities will start to open gradually with the extension of the short-term work allowance.

For many years, the most indispensable part of this sector is Turkish guests. Turkish guests also have a longing for a holiday. People were very bored during the pandemic. Their freedom was restricted, They took great care of their health. All this will give a rapid impetus to domestic tourism movements.”
