Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy revises Turkey’s tourism targets
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has said, “International air traffic continues to increase every day. New Air Lines from both Europe and the Middle East and near Asia began to come into the game. That makes us happy.”
He went on to say; “In Antalya, airport daily entries are almost at their old levels and about to come to their levels in 2019. In this context, Antalya has private free public beaches made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. We did their inspections.”
96-97 PERCENT OF HOTELS OPENED
Minister Ersoy, who also made general assessments about Eid al-Adha and the tourist season, explained that the demand regarding the holiday are currently going well and that there are many more domestic tourism movements than last year. Ersoy who noted that they observed an increase in bookings also said: “Reservations have also begun to come from abroad. I am following the line from the North Aegean to Mersin, especially at holiday points. A very large part of the hotels opened, 96-97 percent are opened.”
This is gratifying for us. There are also hotels that have just opened, most of the hotels that have entered service but closed due to the pandemic have opened in resort areas. Hopefully, we think the season will get longer. We’re not looking at Eid al-Adha only because we have a lot of bed capacity. This year, the season started late but it will prolong/be extended until November-December, hopefully and the sector will have a productive season.
TARGET 25 MILLION TOURISTS
Minister Ersoy who also explained that the tourism targets for this year had been revised, explained the targets for 2021 as follows:
“Target we have revised the last time, we have an estimate of 25 million visitors abroad, the current numbers for this year are going well, and we have a target of 20 billion dollars in revenue. As of the end of June, the numbers are announced in two weeks by TurkStat, but Turkey has caught the number of foreign visitors around 7 million 250 thousand.
