TUIK announces inflation figures in Turkey, for January

According to TÜİK, consumer inflation rose to 64.86 percent on an annual basis in January. Monthly inflation was 6.70 percent. According to ENAG (private group), monthly inflation in January was 9.38 percent, and annual inflation was 129.11 percent.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the consumer inflation figures for January. According to this, the change in CPI in January 2024 compared to the previous month was 6.70 percent, compared to December of the previous year was 6.70 percent, compared to the same month of the previous year was 64.86 percent, and compared to the twelve-month averages was 54.72 percent.

In January, the annual inflation reached its highest level in 14 months, while monthly inflation reached its highest level in five months. Food inflation was calculated at 69.71 percent.

Economists’ inflation expectations for January were 6.84 percent monthly and 65.07 percent annually in the AA survey, and 6.5 percent monthly and 64.5 percent annually in the Reuters survey.
