TUIK announces yearly consumer inflation figures as 16.59 for May 2021

TUIK INFLATION FIGURES FOR TURKEY MAY 2021

TUIK (Statistics Institute) has announced that consumer inflation which was 17.14 percent year-on-year in April, went down to 16.59 percent in May. Potato incurred the biggest increase in with 41.57 percent, in May.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.89 percent in May 2021 compared to the previous month, 6.39 percent compared to December of the previous year, 16.59 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 14.13 percent based on twelve-month averages.

The lowest annual increase was in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco group with 2.90 percent. Other main groups with low growth compared to the same month of the previous year were clothing and footwear with 5.75 percent, communication with 8.07 percent and entertainment and culture with 10.05 percent, respectively.
