Following the release of the latest inflation figures by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the new rental increase rate for both residential and commercial properties has been finalized. What the November Inflation Data Shows

According to TÜİK, monthly inflation for November came in at 0.87%, while annual inflation reached 31.07%. The key figure for rental adjustments—the 12-month average CPI—was announced as 35.91%.

This means commercial tenants whose contracts are renewed in this period will face a 35.91% increase in rent. Last month, the same rate stood slightly higher at 37.15%.

Which TÜİK Data Determines Rental Increases?

For residential rentals, the increase applied is based on the 12-month average CPI rate announced by TÜİK for the month preceding the rental adjustment. Property owners are allowed to apply a raise equal to or lower than this rate.
For example, if the rent increase is scheduled for October, the applicable figure is the 12-month average CPI announced for September of the same year.

For commercial properties, the applicable rate depends on the terms of the rental agreement. If the contract specifies a TÜİK index for adjustment, the increase is again determined using the relevant index for the month before the adjustment. Property owners may apply a raise equal to or below this figure.
