"Share this post on social media, spread the news"
TURKBUKU TURKEY

Türkbükü is located in the wide bay between “Mesire Cape” and “Saplı Cape” on the southern coast of Güllük Gulf. In a way, Türkbükü is a world of its own right next to Bodrum.

Here, you won’t normally find wild parties, crowded streets, or blaring loud music like in Bodrum. It could be described as a holiday village more suitable for relaxation, frequented by regular visitors.

One of the most beautiful things you can do in Türkbükü is to spend the day swimming and sunbathing on wooden terraces built over the sea. After sunset, when the night turns navy blue, enjoying the flavors of the Aegean at restaurants on these terraces, adorned with candlelit tables, under the gentle breeze, is a unique experience. The still sea and the aroma of grilled fish can be referred to as the standout features of the area.

In Türkbükü’s restaurants, you can sometimes spot not only tourists who have fallen in love with this place but also individuals who have gained fame on stage, screen, or the runway in recent years. People enjoy light snacks at beach bars throughout the day, relishing the holiday and water sports. After sunset, you’ll often see lively conversations among familiar faces. Some of these individuals head to Bodrum for dancing and more entertainment in the late hours, calming the atmosphere in Türkbükü.

Reached from Bodrum via a road that winds through pine forests, Türkbükü was formerly known as the ancient Lycian city of Madnasa. Today, traces of this civilization can still be found on the hills of the village. Amidst ruins surrounded by stone and brick piles, you can spot cisterns, towers, cemeteries, rocky terrain, house remnants, and rock-cut tombs.

The bay of Türkbükü, surrounded by summer houses and elegant villas on its slopes, typically offers warm water regardless of the wind’s speed.

IMMERSED IN HISTORY

Türkbükü, which has the distinction of hosting its own art festival in 1994, is surrounded by numerous places to visit. Within the boundaries of the Milas district, Türkbükü stands out as the world’s richest region in terms of archaeological treasures, with 27 ancient cities. Herakleia by Lake Bafa, Labranda ancient city, famous for the statue of the boy with dolphins, Iassos, with 16 columns of the Zeus Euromos monument still standing, Myndos, Kisebükü, Bargylia city ruins, the Gümüşkesen tomb monument in Milas, and Çomakdağ Village, with its houses and chimneys, carry the beauty that is worth seeing on one side and are within easy reach for a day trip.

Closer locations include Bodrum Castle and the world-renowned Underwater Museum, Myndos Gate, mausoleum site, and theater, all within an hour’s drive. Even within Türkbükü, you may stumble upon rock-cut tombs and intriguing caves.

Five derelict windmill remnants perched on high hills, white-painted Bodrum houses with colorful shutters and flowered windows, and colorful boats reflecting in the sea create visual delights and typical compositions for photography enthusiasts.
