FOREST FIRE IN ANTALYA 260723 1

Extinguishing operations in the forest fire in Kemer district of Antalya are continuing with helicopters and airplanes that took off at first light in the morning. The rapid increase in the air temperature on the new day causes difficulties for the teams.

Efforts are continuing to contain the fire that broke out at 21.08 on July 24 in a wooded area in the Göynük Değirmendere neighborhood of Antalya. In the area where land transportation is difficult, night-vision helicopters and land-based intervention were carried out until the morning hours to control the flames. Since the early hours of the morning, a large number of helicopters and aircraft have also begun to respond to the fire. Helicopters working in the region support the extinguishing efforts by carrying the water they take from the sea to the burning areas by descending. A large number of equipment, construction machinery, fire trucks and forestry workers are also fighting the flames from the land.

AIR TEMPERATURE INCREASES BY 7 DEGREES IN 1 HOUR

One of the weather conditions that make the work of the teams difficult is the temperature. The temperature, which was measured as 28 degrees at 08.00 in the morning, rose to 35 degrees at 09.00. The humidity ratio has decreased from 26 to 17 percent. The air temperature throughout the district is expected to reach 40 degrees today. It is estimated that 180 hectares of land was damaged in the fire.

In a statement made by the Antalya Governor’s Office, it was stated that the work on the forest fire in Kemer continued without interruption. In the statement, it was stated that 10 aircraft, 22 helicopters, 62 arazoz, about 600 forest personnel, AFAD and other public institutions and organizations were continuing to respond to the fire with machinery and equipment.
