Professionals in the tourism sector believe Turkish towns and cities with touristic spots as well as beaches could be much more crowded this year as millions could refrain from going Far East on vacations/holidays and shift their destination to Turkey. In fact, same experts have already observed many cases in which tourists that canceled their travel, said they would turn their route to Turkey.

On the other hand, about 500 thousand Chinese tourists were expected to visit Turkey in 2020 and there is no way this target can be achieved due to the deadly corona virus outbreak seen in China.

However, looking at the full part of the glass, this situation is very likely to have a substantial positive reflection on number of tourists to visit places such as Istanbul, Cappadocia and towns on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of the country as these places are much safe and closer.

Therefore, in terms of tourism performance in 2020 the deficit of the Chinese market is expected to be covered by additional potential to change their destinations from the Far East to Turkey region. Consequently, professionals forecast the country could enjoy a double digit performance growth in 2020.

Also, the international marble fair to be held in Izmir in March, might contribute to said positive development as the other important marble fair which was supposed to be held in China will be cancelled and all visitors will have to change their direction to Turkey.
