Turkey starts meat imports from Hungary! Brazil is next

Meat imports, which has been on the agenda after the rise in meat prices, has come to life. It was stated that 5 thousand live animals had been ordered from Hungary and the first delivery had been made to Edirne. It was stated that slaughtering would be carried out by Meat and Milk Institution at the slaughterhouse of the Commodity Exchange in Edirne. It was noted that the products would be sold at Agricultural Credit Markets and Meat and Dairy Institution’s stores.

MEAT IMPORTS START

Imports had come to the agenda after the high increase in meat prices. It was stated that 5 thousand live animals had been ordered from Hungary within the scope of the meat import agreement and the first batch had been brought to Edirne yesterday. It was noted that after the slaughter to be carried out by the Meat and Milk Institution at the slaughterhouse of the Commodity Exchange in Edirne, the products would be sold at Agricultural Credit Markets and in the stores of the Meat and Milk Institution.

“SUPPLY” STATEMENT FROM MEAT AND DAIRY AUTHORITY

While it was learned that the meat tender was held in November, the following statement came from the Meat and Dairy Institution yesterday, which was authorized in a way reminiscent of the Central Bank’s intervention in foreign exchange:

“Within the scope of preparations before the month of Ramadan;

“In order to regulate and balance the meat and dairy markets, the necessary authorizations and assignments have been made for our Institution. The meat market is monitored regularly in order to protect our producers and consumers. Necessary measures are being taken to ensure the security of supply and price stability in red meat.

The procurement processes necessary for the adequate supply of products at economical prices in Meat and Dairy Institution sales stores and Agricultural Credit Union Markets have been completed.

In addition, in case of need, fresh carcass meat will be sold to the market, taking into account the production costs of our producers.
