The Ministry of Trade announced that the customs gates whose operations were suspended due to the forest fire in the city of Didymoteicho in Greece have been reopened.

An emergency was declared in the city of Didymoteicho in Greece due to the forest fire that broke out there. As a precaution, 12 settlements were evacuated. The operations of the Ipsala Customs Gate on the Turkish side and the Kipi Customs Gate on the Greek side were temporarily suspended as a result of discussions between Turkish and Greek officials last night. The Ministry of Trade stated in a statement that the customs gates had resumed operations, saying, “Due to the fire that broke out in Didymoteicho, Greece, the Ipsala Customs Gate on our side and the Kipi Customs Gate on the Greek side are back in service.”

GOVERNORATE MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT

In the announcement made on the social media account of the Edirne Governorate, following was shared; “In the discussions held, it was learned that the fires in Greece continue, the highway connected to our Ipsala Border Gate is closed to traffic, and access can be provided through side roads, but there is a continued risk of side roads being closed again. Therefore, entry and exit from our Ipsala Border Gate can be done in a controlled manner.”
