Turkey will start the ancient cities bike route tourism project to host 3 million tourists

Turkey has rolled up its sleeves for the ancient cities bike route tourism project where the health of holidaymakers is at the forefront because of the new type of coronavirus. Huseyin Baraner, Secretary General of the “World’s Sister Cities Tourism Association” said this project would be the longest cycling ancient city route in the world with its historical texture.

Differences in demand for tourism have started come to the agenda, due to coronavirus. When people are on holiday, they aim to stay fit and risk-free. In this direction, there is an intense interest for bicycle tourism all over the world. “The World Association of Sister Cities Tourism” have announced they realize this intensity and have developed a new project. With the “Ancient Bicycle Route” project, the ancient cities in Anatolia will be connected by bicycle.

The project targets an 8 weeks of travel on bike and the route will cover Canakkale, Troy Beyramkale, Asos, Edremit the Gulf of Edremit, Ayvalık, Bergama, Dikili, Çandarlı, Izmir, Cesme, Seferihisar, Sığacık, Gümüldür, Kusadasi, Teos, Miletus, Didyma, Bodrum, Koycegiz, Mugla, Kas, Demre, Olympos, Cirali, Olympos, Kemer, Antalya, Perge, side, Alara, Alanya and Gazipaşa.

The tour participants will use 8 airports and 8 planes. Each airport will have special bikes for those taking part in the tour. They will get off the plane, get straight on bikes. Their luggage will be sent to the hotel where they will be staying. People will just take their bike bags and pedal. The official in charge said “This route will enable a dreamlike discovery for people” and stated that Turkey would offer tourists a wide destination thanks to the numerous different civilizations and cultures it hosts.

“The Tour participants will be able to listen to the historical features of the places they go in 40 different languages thanks to special application. They will be able to see accommodation facilities, get advice and even make your payments from here,” he said.

The official pointed out that the global bicycle tourism market was 2 billion euros, and said the goal was to bring 3 million people a year to Turkey to use this route.
