Turkey’s EU Minister Egemen BAGIS has said it would be better for business people with financial investment in Cyprus to invest in Turkey instead.

As Ankara looks forward to improving its relations with EU, Turkish EU minister has sent an open invitation to lenders who loan money to Greek Cypriot banks to consider investing with Turkish lenders

The minister has not refrained from warning said investors using a sharp language and said “Investors who have money in Greek Cypriot banks should think carefully; this economic crisis could affect them, too. It is better for them to invest in Turkish banks”.

Bağış went on to say that the economic crisis that had hit the country was no surprise to him.

He said said Nicosia was taking confusing steps in the European Union. He also said that if the Annan Plan to reunify Cyprus had been accepted in 2004, Greek Cyprus wouldn’t be in an economic crisis because there would be investments, income from tourism and a positive atmosphere.
