Turkey’s Finance Minister Nebati says “We will overcome inflation with your prayers”

Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati has said, “We insist that we are the ones who will overcome this inflation problem. With the steps we have taken, with “your prayers”, with the great performance of the business world and with the measures we have taken, we will overcome this business.”

Speaking during his visit to the Isparta Provincial Presidency of AK Party, Nebati claimed that he had met with the business world and visited shopkeepers and also said that he had been “greeted with smiling faces” in the city.

Nebati argued that despite the fact that the dollar had risen above 18, they had taken control of the foreign exchange in Turkey with the currency-protected deposit account.

Stating that there was an inflation problem in front of them, Nebati said “We claim and say that we are the ones who will overcome this inflation scourge. We have the will to eliminate high inflation from this country, our ways and methods are clear. We will overcome this with the steps we have taken, with the measures we have taken with the great performance of the business world and with your prayers.”

TURKSTAT had announced that inflation increased by 80.21 percent year-on-year in August and by 1.46 percent month-on-month. According to TURKSTAT, producer prices increased by 2.41 percent month-on-month in August, while the annual increase was 143.8.

According to the Inflation Research Group (ENAG), annual inflation increased by 181 percent and monthly inflation increased by 5.86 percent.
