Turkey’s fresh fruits and vegetables exports to Russia increased by 151 percent

According to a statement made by BAIB (WMEA, West Mediterranean Exporters Association), exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables participated in the 26th “WorldFood Moscow Food Fair” held in Russia’s Moscow city, this year. At the fair which is of great importance for exports of fresh fruits and vegetables to neighboring countries in Russia, Turkish businessmen made important negotiations on trade between Turkey and Russia.

Turkish companies participated in the fair at a national level and used an exhibition area of 510 square meters, in total. Officials representing 16 Turkish companies with stands at the fair established important business contacts with prospective buyers.

Regarding trade relation between Russia and Turkey experts say in parallel with the development of political relations the situation has improved considerably fast and the export volume in fresh fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Russia has climbed to US$ 259.3 million between January 1st and August 31st. The total export figure for fresh fruits and vegetables was US$ 1 billion 176 million during the same period.
