Turkish businessman plans to buy Kalem island in Turkish Aegean to turn it into hotel

KALEM ISLAND IN TURKEY FOR SALE

Kalem Island, known as “the Maldives of the Aegean” with its turquoise blue water, white sands and historical texture, has been put up for sale for 400 million TL.  The Island which is about 500 meters from Bademli village in Dikili district of Izmir is also known as “Hidden Paradise”.

The island witnessed the largest naval battle of the era, between Athens and Sparta, in 406 B.C. in which hundreds of ships participated. Many ships were sunk in this battle of the Peloponnese and Athens was the winner in the end. 258 acres of 459 acres of Kalem Island, which bears the traces of this war occupying an important place in history, were put up for sale.

The sales agent responsible for the operation has said, “Kalem Island is on sale for the first time. Our island is about 400-500 meters from Bademli village in the Dikili district of Izmir, the heart of the Aegean Sea.  One can easily swim to the island which is 1.5 kilometers from North to South. We’re talking about 459 acres in total. We’re selling 258 acres only.”

As expressed by the agent, the family that owns the property has received a lot of requests for them to sell the island and now they have decided to evaluate these requests. A solid prospective buyer has applied within 24 hours of the island had been put up for sale.

The agent also said, “We have a meeting on Monday and our candidate is a Turkish citizen. This person wants to use the geothermal water in it and also build a hotel.
