Turkish garments company supports campaign against Covid-19 by producing masks

An official from LC Waikiki garment company has announced that they have been supporting the government’s campaign against Covid-19 by producing masks to be used in the field. The official also said “Within the framework of our understanding of social responsibility, we have mobilized all our resources as well, to reach healthy days”.

The official explained that as Turkey Exporters Assembly (TIM), Istanbul apparel and Apparel Exporters Union (IHKIB), Istanbul textile and raw materials Exporters Union (ITHIB) and Istanbul chemical substances and Products Exporters Union (IKMIB) they had started a joint production mobilization upon the call from the Ministry of Health after the outbreak was spotted on March 11th, to overcome the shortage of supply of masks. LC Waikiki took immediate action after the ministry requested masks from this company as well as some other companies.

The official also shared following:

“We have established the manufacturing infrastructure by undertaking the supply of raw materials and all necessary machinery equipment. As LC Waikiki and Taha group, we transformed our facilities into a mask production base and donated 2.5 million masks to the Ministry of Health in just one week, taking all necessary measures.

In addition to our factories under LC Waikiki and group companies, we produce 40 million masks a week without profit with tens of thousands of our employees in more than 30 cities with hundreds of subcontractors. All necessary measures were taken in the fastest manner in all production areas, the mask production infrastructure was prepared according to the standards of the Ministry of Health and production was started.”
