Turkish Girls on Top of the World in Volleyball

TURKISH_GIRLS_VOLLEYBALLTurkish team toppled Chinese squad in three sets in a game on Sunday in the Volleyball Girls’ Youth World Championship 2011, winning the first ever world title in its history.

Turkey emerged undefeated from Group A in the first round in the two-week long championship that took place in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

The Turkish team lost only one game against China in the second round of the championship, placing second in Group E to make headway to the semifinals, where they defeated Serbia 3-2.

Previously, the Turkish team’s best performance in Volleyball Girls’ Youth World Championship was in 2007 when they placed second in the event in Mexico.
