TOURISTS IN TURKEY FULL LOCK DOWN

Curfew imposed on citizens in Turkey, while everything was free for tourists was on the agenda of the world, as well. British media wrote that Turkey was sorely in need of tourism revenue, so the country was left to foreigners while Turks were locked-down at homes.

Following information was shared on foreign media regarding the issue:

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS NOT TWEET ABOUT ERDOGAN

Tourists in Turkey have always been spoiled with excellent food, welcome and pleasant holiday options. Today, due to major changes in foreign currency TL rate in favor of dollar for quite a while, prospects of having a vacation at very suitable prices have become much more likely. Sometimes, the price of a room in a luxury hotel in Turkey, could be more suitable than a cramped apartment offered by Airbnb in a European capital city.

All tourists need to do is keep themselves from tweeting their thoughts about Erdogan, as 36 thousand people have been investigated for insulting the president of Turkey in just one year.

FOREIGNERS ROAM EMPTY STREETS

In order to revive tourism, Turkey has exempted holidaymakers from Covid-19 restriction. Tourists visiting Turkey were quite surprised during the curfew declared until May 17 after the country’s corona virus outbreak increased in the number of cases and deaths. The country looks like almost left to tourists, with foreigners in Istanbul walking on empty streets and boarding empty steamships, for example.

FOREIGN MINISTER’S WORDS CRITICIZED

Regarding the issue the Foreign Minister said “Anyone tourists can see will be vaccinated” which were harshly criticized by thousands of angry citizens (and politicians) on social media – pointing to the “not very impressive” performance of Turkey in vaccinating its citizens, so far.
