TURKSTAT says 46.7 percent of total income is in hands of 20 percent group, in Turkey

According to a survey by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the share of the highest income group in total income was 46.7 percent. The permanent poverty rate increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous year and was 13.8 percent.

The share of the 20 percent group with the highest income in Turkey received from total income decreased by 0.8 percentage points to 46.7 percent last year compared to the previous year, while the share of the 20 percent group with the lowest income increased by 0.2 percentage points to 6.1 percent. The average annual household disposable income in Turkey increased by 10.6 percent compared to 2020 last year and reached TL 76,733.

Accordingly, the average annual household disposable income in Turkey increased by 10.6 percent last year compared to the previous year to TL 76,733. On the other hand, the average annual equivalent household and individual income in Turkey increased by 11.9 percent compared to the previous year from 33,428 liras to 37,400 liras.
