UK lifts export restriction of defense industry products to Turkey

Ismail Demir, the President of Defence Industries has said UK has lifted restrictions in exports of defense industry products to Turkey, causing a positive atmosphere between the two countries .

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu had said in a statement on April 7, “The UK has lifted its export restrictions. We are pleased with this”. The Minister had expressed their desire to improve cooperation in the defense industry in important projects, including both combat aircraft and warships and aircraft carriers.

According to Turkish media, Demir noted that bilateral relations, as well as cooperation with third parties, had been discussed at the talks in the British capital of London.

POSITIVE STEPS CONTRIBUTED TO POSITIVE ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN 2 COUNTRIES

The head of the defense industry said “It also felt more positive to see that the positive steps promised earlier were taken, especially with regard to some restrictions imposed on Turkey”, noting that export restrictions on defense industry products had disappeared. Demir stated that the talks were extremely positive and said “acting in the spirit of alliance will have positive effects.”
