Ukraine: Russia is preparing for a new major ground operation including Kiev

Ukraine has suggested that Russia is preparing for a major ground operation, also targeting Kiev, in the new year. In an interview with The Economist magazine, President Vladimir Zelenskiy, General Valery Zaluzhniy and General Oleksandr Syrskiy warned that this attack could be launched in January.

Stressing that the operation could be launched from the Donbas region, from the south or through Belarus, the officials said that Moscow could attack Kiev again, which it had tried and failed to take before.

Zaluzhniy said, “The Russians are preparing a new army of 200 thousand people. I have no doubt that they will try to take Kiev again,” he said.

In the Guardian report, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stressed that the developments show that Russia was preparing for a new comprehensive attack. Reznnikov, on the other hand, estimated that this attack could take place in February, when the training of 300 thousand soldiers, who were armed with partial mobilization, would be completed.
