US Dollar Keeps Rising: Breaks New Record Above 42 TL

The dollar continues its upward momentum, hitting a new all-time high against the Turkish lira. As investors and citizens closely monitor gold and foreign exchange markets, the spotlight is once again on the USD/TRY exchange rate, which surpassed the 42 TL mark this morning.
Dollar Hits Record Levels
After starting the day flat, the dollar/lira pair climbed to 42.10 TL, reaching its highest level in history in interbank trading. On Thursday, the pair closed 0.2% higher at 42.05 TL. As of 09:25 this morning, the dollar was trading at 42.05 TL, maintaining a steady course.
At the same time, Euro/TL rose by 0.2% to 48.85, while Sterling/TL gained 0.1%, reaching 56.07. The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) also climbed 0.2% to 99.1, showing continued global strength.
Global Markets Watching U.S.-China Developments
The rise in the dollar index is partly fueled by optimism over upcoming U.S.-China trade talks. The White House confirmed that discussions are set to take place, generating a positive tone in global markets.
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, U.S. President Donald Trump will embark on an Asia tour, meeting leaders from China, South Korea, and Japan. His visit will include a stop in Malaysia on October 26, where he will attend a working dinner with ASEAN leaders.
Economic Data in Focus
Analysts note that investors will be closely following several key indicators today, including the Financial Services Confidence Index in Turkey, inflation and consumer confidence data from the University of Michigan in the U.S., and manufacturing, services, and composite PMI data from around the world.
Market Outlook
With the dollar maintaining its record highs and the global economic calendar packed with key data, volatility in currency markets may persist. Analysts warn that external developments, particularly in U.S.-China relations, could continue to influence the Turkish lira’s short-term performance.
