While Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent statement putting the threat of nuclear weapons on the table caused concern all over the world, the United States made a statement saying, “Putin is not bluffing.” On the other hand, the Russian media also began broadcasting nuclear propaganda. They urged Putin to take ‘permanent measures’ in Ukraine.

While Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has continued since February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of 4 regions last week, stressing that the threat of nuclear weapons is always on the table as an option.

While Putin’s statements caused concern all over the world, US Defense Secretary Loyd Austin spoke for the first time on the issue. Austin said Putin was ‘not bluffing’ in his threats about using nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

Austin made a statement to the US-based CNN news channels saying ‘There is nothing that can control Putin. He made an irresponsible decision to invade Ukraine. Now he can also make another decision.”
