Weather Warning for Turkey’s Holiday Destinations as Rain and Strong Winds Forecast

Turkey’s General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued a weather warning for large parts of the country, forecasting showers, thunderstorms and strong winds across several popular tourist destinations.

Visitors and residents in Istanbul should be prepared for periods of rain and thunderstorms, while Antalya is expected to see local thunderstorms later in the day. The weather system will also bring stronger northerly winds to the Marmara region and parts of the Aegean coast.

Strong Winds Expected Along the Coast

Forecasters say winds could reach speeds of 40 to 60 km/h in the Marmara region and along parts of the Aegean coastline. Authorities are advising people to remain cautious, particularly in coastal areas where stronger gusts may affect outdoor activities and sea conditions.

Holidaymakers planning boat trips or beach activities are encouraged to check the latest local weather updates before travelling.

What About Bodrum and Fethiye?

Although Bodrum and Fethiye are not expected to experience widespread heavy rainfall, both destinations may see increased cloud cover, fresh northerly winds and locally unsettled conditions as the weather system moves across western Turkey.

Visitors should be aware that weather conditions can change quickly during the summer, particularly along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.

Cooler Weather on the Way

Meteorologists also expect temperatures across northern and western Turkey to fall below seasonal averages from Saturday, bringing more comfortable conditions after recent hot weather.

While the forecast is unlikely to disrupt the holiday season, travellers are advised to stay informed, especially if planning outdoor activities, ferry crossings or long-distance journeys.
