WHO grants international license to a Covid-19 antibody test kit for the first time
The Technology Access Pool (C-TAP) and the Pharmaceutical Patent Pool (MPP) affiliated to the World Health Organization (WHO) have approved the licensing agreement for the production and distribution of the Covid-19 antibody test kit developed by the National Research Council of Spain (CSIC).
According to a WHO statement, for the first time an international license has been granted to a Covid-19 antibody test. The test kit is able to effectively detect the rate of antibodies formed in the human body after a corona virus infection or Covid-19 vaccine. Unlike others, this antibody test can be applied in simple laboratories. Therefore, with the widespread use of tests, it can provide low-income countries with concrete data on the number of people carrying the Covid-19 antibody.
