Zelenskiy entered the White House in a khaki-colored suit with the Ukrainian coat of arms, which he wore throughout the war. The Ukrainian leader was greeted at the White House by US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden. After the meeting, Biden and Zelensky moved on to a bilateral meeting. On the other hand, a senior US official, who did not want his name to be disclosed, also made statements to journalists about the visit. He said on the same topic: “Tomorrow is the 300th day of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. Biden will announce a new security support package of about $ 2 billion for Ukraine. This package will also include Patriot missile defense system batteries, which are critical for the defense of the Ukrainian people against Russia’s barbaric attacks on Ukraine.”
The official stated that they would train Ukrainian soldiers in a third country on how to use these batteries, and at the same time, arming them with UAVs and various military equipment would continue, he said.
The official said work to provide “additional finance package” to Ukraine for 2023 would be started in the congress, adding they hoped to do this with a $ 40 billion of additional package.
