In the recent period, Turkey’s statements giving signals of dialogue with the Assad administration in Syria keep remaining on the agenda. A senior official who spoke to the British media, while evaluating the diplomatic process between the two countries, also drew attention to the current position of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s position.

Recently, the government, especially President Erdogan and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, seem to leave the door open to dialogue with the Assad administration in Syria and Erdogan is observed to signal a return from ESED to ‘my brother Assad’, again.

A senior Lebanese official made important statements about the dialogue process of the two countries, without naming names. The senior official said, “The dialogue process will be gradual. The message of the Turks is very clear. They want to solve the PKK problem, and Assad has a trump card for the first time. But since all this happened thanks to Putin, Assad should not push his current position too hard.”
