TURKS UNHAPPY DUE TO ECONOMY

Turkey which was listed 77th in “The World Happiness Report” in 2013, is ranking 104th in the same report today. Based on same report even Bangladesh and Guineans were observed to be happier than Turks.

A report prepared by the CHP (main opposition) once again revealed how difficult it is for citizens, millions of whom were closed home without support during the epidemic. In the report entitled “families are in depression and falling apart” by the CHP R & D Science Platform it was emphasized that during the 19-year period of AKP power, the order of the family was broken, the social fabric and social solidarity were depressed. “Even the people of Bangladesh and Guinea are happier than we are,” the report said, noting that unemployment and debt burden on families had increased due to incorrect economic policies:

1 IN 2 PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY

“In the prevailing order, misery, widespread due to poverty, nepotism and injustices, has taken over millions of families as a disease gnawing at society. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute’s Life Satisfaction Survey, one in two people in Turkey is not happy. In the 17 years between 2003-2020, the number of citizens who stated that they were unhappy doubled. Turkey ranked 77th in the World Happiness Report in 2013 but declined to 104 in 2021. Even people and families living in Bangladesh and Guinea are happier than citizens of our country.”

GETTING MARRIED IS ALSO DIFFICULT

“Due to the rising cost of living and chronic unemployment, it has become almost impossible for young couples to marry,” the report said, noting that families had been pushed into the vortex of suicide, divorce and violence. It also said, “For married couples, having children is becoming increasingly burdensome.”

“In the same household, both parents and young people are unemployed, which leads to great psychological shame and humiliating destruction. During the Covid-19 pandemic, tradesmen and their employees, who were given almost no closure support, and families with large income losses, are drowned in deprivation and desperation.”
