Yellow Weather Alert Issued for 32 Provinces in Turkey

Heavy Rain and Storms Expected Across the Country

The Meteorology General Directorate (MGM) has issued a “yellow” weather alert for 32 provinces due to expected heavy rainfall and strong winds.

According to the latest forecasts, most of Turkey will experience cloudy skies with intermittent rainfall. While rain and showers will dominate, higher elevations in the inland areas of the Eastern Black Sea and northeastern Eastern Anatolia are expected to see sleet and occasional snowfall.

Localized Heavy Rainfall Warning

Authorities warn that rainfall may become locally intense, increasing the risk of flooding, waterlogging, and transport disruptions.

Stronger precipitation is expected across the Mediterranean region, much of the Western Black Sea (excluding Sinop), and inland provinces such as Sakarya, Ankara, Kırıkkale, and Çankırı, as well as southeastern areas including Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Kilis, and western parts of Şanlıurfa.

Later in the evening, rainfall is forecast to intensify along the Aegean coast, particularly in İzmir, Aydın, and Muğla.

Weather Snapshot: Istanbul, Fethiye & Antalya

Istanbul: Currently cool and cloudy with showers expected. Daytime temperatures hover around 17–18°C, with occasional rain through the next few days and clearer skies early next week.

Fethiye: Mild but unsettled. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine, with heavy showers especially at night, and daytime temperatures around 16°C.

Antalya: Warmer but still unstable. Conditions include overcast skies with light rain, high humidity, and temperatures around 17–18°C, typical of early spring variability in the region.

Strong Winds and Coastal Storm Risk

Winds will blow from the north in the Marmara region, while southern winds are expected across the Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and Central Black Sea regions, reaching speeds of 40–60 km/h.

Along the coastal Aegean, winds may strengthen into storms of up to 80 km/h, increasing the likelihood of disruptions.

Dust Transport and Reduced Visibility

Meteorologists also warn of dust transport affecting the western Mediterranean and Aegean coasts. This may lead to reduced visibility and lower air quality in affected areas.

Avalanche and Snowmelt Risk Continues

In the mountainous parts of the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia, the risk of avalanches and snowmelt remains high. Caution is advised, particularly on steep and snow-covered slopes.

Temperature Changes

Temperatures in eastern regions are expected to drop by 3 to 5°C, while no significant changes are forecast elsewhere in the country.
