According to clinical testing conducted worldwide in the fight against coronavirus, 68 percent of heavy Covid-19 patients who were given the antiviral drug “Remdesivir” responded positively to the treatment.

According to the results of the study, published in the new English Medical Journal, 36 out of a total of 53 severely ill patients in the US, Italy, France, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Japan and Canada are reported to start recovering thanks to said treatment.

In Tests, 17 out of 30 patients who were on artificial respiration improved their condition. In the same process, 7 patients who did not respond to treatment lost their lives.

However the scientists pointed out that, as with the chloroquine test in France, there was no control group in this clinical trial, either. This is to say, in order to determine whether Remdesivir can help Covid-19 patients adequately, random and placebo-controlled tests are needed to be applied.

Laboratory results of the drug, considered by many experts to be the most promising antiviral for Covid-19, revealed it to be effective against coronavirus. It was also used in hospitals in northern Italy and China.

More comprehensive results are expected in the coming weeks with new tests using Remdesivir.
