Turkey’s Minister of Interior posts message on Twitter announcing his resignation

"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced his resignation from his Interior Ministry post in a message shared on his social media account. Sharing on his Twitter account, he said the responsibility for implementing the weekend curfew decision rests with him in every aspect.

Minister Soylu’s statement was as follows:

“In a process that was carried out diligently and meticulously, the responsibility of implementing the weekend curfew decision to prevent the outbreak entirely belongs to me in every aspect.

The images that appeared at the beginning, albeit at restricted hours, did not match this perfectly managed process.

All the experience I’ve had, should not have led to such images in this event where the responsibility is on us. It was a step in good faith taken at the end of the week to stop the epidemic and the contagion a little bit.

May our cherished Nation who I have never wanted to hurt and my president who I will be faithful to the rest of my life, forgive me.

I am leaving my job as Minister of the Interior, which I have honorably carried out.”
