The claims that support was sought from the US to negotiate with the IMF after the elections have been denied. The Directorate of Communication’s Center for Combating Disinformation issued a statement regarding the allegations of seeking support from the US to negotiate with the IMF after the elections.

The Directorate of Communication’s Center for Combating Disinformation stated that the allegations of seeking support from the US to negotiate with the IMF after the elections were not true.

In the statement made by the Center for Combating Disinformation, the following statements were included:

“The allegations circulating on some press and social media platforms regarding seeking support from the US to negotiate with the IMF after the elections are not true. During the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting held in Brazil, the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek held bilateral talks with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, during which regional and global economic developments were discussed. There was no discussion of any topic related to the IMF during the meeting. Minister Şimşek exchanged views on strengthening relations and cooperation with multilateral development banks and countries during the bilateral meetings he held.”
