Anadolujet which serves as a sub-brand of Turkish Airlines (THY), has decided to apply savings measures against the rising costs. Accordingly the company has announced cheddar sandwiches and coffee will not be served on Anadolujet flights any more. The question is to what extent this interruption in free catering services will affect sales of the company.

Anadolujet started to implement its new catering policy based on serious savings measures. According to surprising decision taken, sandwiches and coffee were completely removed from the catering menu, which was given free of charge to passengers. Instead of the sandwiches with butter, fresh green pepper and cheddar, small savory buns with olives are served.

The two types of cakes previously offered as an alternative to the sandwich were also reduced to one type. The cakes, which are now offered as an alternative to the new savory buns, will be served alternately, one week with cocoa and one week with fruit.

Anadolujet’s alternative beverage offering consisting of tea and coffee was reduced to one according to new measures and filter coffee was removed from the menu. Now, on Anadolujet flights, only tea can be drunk with buns or cakes. The Hamidiye brand water service of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on Anadolujet flights continues for the time being. Turkish Airlines lost 1.12 billion TL in the first 6 months of the year and announced a profit of TL 2 billion 587 million with its performance in the third quarter.
