Aida Rostami, a doctor treating insurgents in Iran tortured to death

While demonstrations continue in Iran after Mehsa Emini fell into a coma and died after being detained by the morality police on September 13, a doctor who helped the insurgents, Aida Rostami, was found tortured and killed. The tortured body of Iranian doctor Ayda Rostami was handed over to his family.

Protests continue all over the country after the death of 22-year-old Emini. Iranians injured by the security forces, on the other hand, avoid receiving treatment in hospitals for fear of being detained, tortured, tried or killed.

Paramedics who risk their lives to help the injured are treating protesters at their homes or elsewhere. Aida Rostemi, 36, was one of those doctors. shee disappeared on December 12th. A day later, his lifeless body, and crushed body with broken bones was handed over to his family.

According to the IranWire news website, Rostami realized that some of his medical supplies were about to run out after taking care of a large number of injured protesters in Ekbatan on December 12. She left a protester’s house to get the missing material and was never heard from again. A local police station called her family the next day to inform them that Rostami had died in a car accident at night. They told family to take her body from the morgue.

However, a source close to the family said, “The cause of Rostami’s death could not have been a car accident. When you have an accident while driving, it is impossible for both of your hands to be broken, the lower part of your torso to be bruised and your eye to come out completely.”

According to the same source, the medical examiner had ordered not to disclose to family Ayda’s true cause of death. The family asked the police to show them Rostami’s vehicle and the place where the traffic accident occurred. However, these requests were turned down.
