Turkish exports increase in September 2017

According to TIM (Turkish Exporters Assembly) data, exports in September reached $ 11.3 billion with an increase of 8.9 percent over the same period last year. Based on report issued by TIM, exports went up to USD 11 billion 337 million in September with an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the same period last year. On the other hand exports, which rose by 9 percent in the last 12 months, reached 153 billion 24 million dollars.

Figures show automotive was the leading sector in exports again. In September, the automotive industry realized exports worth USD 2 billion 152 million 110 thousand and made its way to the top of the list again. It was followed by clothing and apparel sector which realized an export total of USD 1 billion 294 million and 611 thousand, in September as well and chemicals sector with an export performance of USD 1 billion 280 million 260 thousand.

The highest increase in exports in September was recorded in the ship and yacht industry with an annual rate of 420.9 percent. In September, Turkey’s industry group performed 82 percent of Turkey’s total exports, corresponding to an increase of 8.9 percent as compared to the same month in 2016 and totaling up to USD 9 billion 304 million 620 thousand dollars. In September, exports to 139 countries and regions increased. Among the top 5 export markets of Turkey an increase of 8.3 percent was recorded in exports to Germany followed by 14 percent increase in exports to GB. On the other hand exports to Iraq increased by 2.2 percent as well. The highest increase among the top 20 exporting countries in September was with Russia at 54 percent.

In September, Germany was recorded as the largest export market with USD 1 billion 217 million 935 thousand dollars, followed Britain, Iraq, Italy and the United States. Exports to the EU market which had an export share of 51.6 percent in increased by 10.2 percent in September.
