Citizens who are struggling to find a more suitable rental home as the prices of rental houses rise, fall into the hands of deposit fraudsters and become victims. Fraudsters advertise houses that do not belong to them at a much lower price than their counterparts, and ask the consumer to deposit a deposit or collective rent before they see the house, on the pretext that there is high demand for the ad.
The scammers disappear immediately after the payment is made. While the people in question defraud the citizens, they mostly use the reason that there is great interest in the house, so they need to get an emergency deposit.
Addressing the citizens against fraudsters, officials of “Consumer Application Center” say: Urban transformation, opening of faculties and the search for houses in the cities where the students will go to university have increased the demand for rental houses. In parallel, both opportunists and fraudsters have emerged.
It is necessary to be very careful with scammers, because they take an advertisement published somewhere and post advertisements on social media, on the internet, like a house they are authorized to sell. Actually, there is no such ad.
They copy material from another real estate agent’s site, take it and write a low price. For example, a house with a rent of 3 thousand liras is written as 1,950 lira. And some citizens who are looking for a house to rent fall into the trap. They say, “There is a lot of demand. If you’re serious, give us a deposit so that we don’t rent it to anyone else”. At this point one needs to ask whether concerned person has a trade authorization document.
If there is no such authorization from the Ministry of Commerce, the person contacting you is not authorized to do real estate. Secondly, if you are really convinced, never pay in person if you are going to send money. Because in case of a dispute, the account holder in this bank is reached by the prosecutor’s office and the accountr owner will be asked necessary questions to work out the conflict.

Of course, when making a criminal complaint to the prosecutor’s office, we must specify the identity information, TR identity numbers and contact information of the person in our petition.
* In order not to fall into such a situation, it is necessary to do a research. We need to determine whether that person is a real estate agent or not. And we need to record and document all kinds of payments or contracts. It will be much healthier if we make our payments through the bank. The reason is at least it will be easier for us to reach the account owner.
