Interest from foreign tourists in the Black Sea Region, which stands out with its natural and cultural assets, is rapidly increasing. In the first seven months, the number of foreign visitors to Trabzon almost doubled compared to the previous year. Minister of Transportation Uraloğlu said, “The increasing interest is also reflected in passenger traffic. Trabzon has become an attraction center.”

Tourism professionals explaining the rapid growth of tourism in Trabzon say, “Trabzon is becoming a destination like Antalya. Tourism is great, but we must grow in a balanced and controlled manner. We should spread it to the entire Black Sea region.”

Alongside its cultural assets, the breathtaking nature of the Eastern Black Sea, which captivates everyone who sees it, is turning into one of Turkey’s new and major tourism destinations. Trabzon has particularly become an important center for foreign tourists, in the region. While this tourism interest positively contributes to the region’s economic activity, it also diversifies Turkey’s tourism offerings. Local tourism professionals emphasize the need to carefully monitor the increasing uncontrolled density.

A NEW ATTRACTION CENTER

Turkey’s Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure stated that the growing tourism activity in Trabzon was also reflected in the number of passengers. He said in his assessment to Hürriyet: “The Black Sea Region has become an important attraction center with its natural beauty, plateaus, and sea. The momentum in tourism provides valuable contributions to the region’s economic development. Trabzon Airport ranks 7th in domestic passenger numbers and 10th in international passenger numbers. A record was broken on June 30th with 145 flight movements. With the new airport project, tourism activities in the region will further expand.”
