Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions: Hunger threshold in Turkey increases to 12,198 TL

The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (TÜRK-İŞ) announced that the hunger threshold had risen to 12,198 TL, and the poverty threshold to 39,733 TL.

According to TÜRK-İŞ’s August data, the monthly food expenditure required for a healthy, balanced, and adequate diet for a family of four has reached 12,198 TL.

The poverty threshold, which includes mandatory monthly expenses for food, clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health, and other similar necessities, has increased to 39,733 TL.

The ‘cost of living’ for a single employee was also announced as 15,813 TL per month.

It was noted that kitchen inflation had increased by 4.63 monthly, 77.04 annually, and an average of 107.80 percent annually.
