Economy in Turkey: Increase in fuel prices continues, Giant hike in gasoline on the way

Along with the changes in Brent oil prices and foreign exchange, citizens continue to experience hikes in gasoline and diesel prices. The increase in fuel prices continues. A 2 lira increase in gasoline is expected to be effective from July 25.

According to NTV (Turkish media) gasoline prices will be increased by 2 liras starting from Tuesday, July 25th.

As for the diesel prices, no price changes are expected (at the very moment that is).

According to the current fuel pump prices;

The price of a liter of diesel in Istanbul is sold at 33.92 liras.
A liter of gasoline is sold at an average of 34.05 liras.

EXCISE DUTY ON FUEL PRICES WAS INCREASED

Following the hikes on gasoline and diesel last week, on July 17, the amount of excise duty levied on the liter price of unleaded gasoline was increased from 2.52 liras to 7.52 liras, and the amount of tax levied on the liter price of diesel was increased from 2.05 liras to 7.05 liras.

After the excise duty decision, there was a 6 lira price increase in the gasoline and diesel group, T be effective from Sunday. On July 15, in Istanbul, a liter of diesel was sold for 26.37 and a liter of gasoline for 28.05 TL.

Before the May 14 elections, the price of a liter of gasoline was sold at 19.76, and the price of a liter of diesel fuel was sold at 18.58 liras. Since the elections, prices for both products have been increased as follows: About 14 lira 25 cents for gasoline and about 15 lira 35 cents for diesel.
