Election in Turkey: Green light from GOOD Party for second round in presidential run

The Good (IYI) Party will support CHP Chairman Kemal KILICDAROGLU if the election goes to the second round. GOOD Party staffs also gave the message, “If they do not impose a candidate (meaning CHP leader KILICDAROGLU), we will return to the table of six”.

The GOOD Party, which left from the “table of 6” by suggesting that the candidacy of CHP Chairman was “imposed”, turned on the green light for CHP leader by saying “they would extend support to CHP leader  in case the presidential elections went to the second round.”

According to Cumhuriyet media, the IYI Party executives state that they ”insist on the candidacy of Chairman Meral Akşener“ while they note that Akşener exhibits the attitude ”We will determine our candidate as a result of the polls we will conduct.” The GOOD Party members who made the statement, “If Kılıçdaroğlu reaches the second round against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and not the presidential candidate that the IYI Party will show, we will support Kılıçdaroğlu’s candidacy in the second round against Erdoğan.”

They also emphasize that their problem is the candidate who will win and not anything to do with anybody’s sect, origin etc. We have a position that the president should be someone from outside the People’s Alliance. No matter who it is, we insist on the candidate who will win against the People’s Alliance. We are not completely against Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu either.”
