TALIBAN PROHIBIT WOMEN UNIVERSITY

IYI Party Leader Meral Akşener reacted to the radical Islamist Taliban which banned women education in university saying, “We can never accept this crime against humanity. Freedom rises on women’s shoulders and tyranny feeds on the suffering of women.”

With the decision taken in the previous days, the Taliban had suspended women’s university education ‘until a second announcement’ and finally banned non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from employing female staff.

Reacting to this decision on her Twitter account, Akşener said: “I strongly condemn the fact that a freak understanding that sees women as slaves, not human beings, forbids girls from going to school in Afghanistan and tries to legitimize it by using our supreme religion. We can never accept this crime against humanity.

With the inspiration we get from the words ‘If a woman does not rise, the homeland will fall’, we know that; No matter what regime, religion, affiliation, sect, ideology and for whatever reason; an order in which a woman’s body and self are trampled and exploited is doomed to be questioned.

Because; The social reaction to the murder of our daughter Mahsa Amini in Iran also shows that freedom rises on the shoulders of women. Tyranny, on the other hand, feeds on the sufferings of women. It is a duty of civilization to stand firmly next to women against this cruelty.”
