The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,162.41 points with a 0.24 percent increase in Borsa Istanbul. Since the appointment of Mehmet Şimşek, whom the markets favor, to the management of the economy, the stock market has been trading positively.

The BIST 100 index completed the day with a 2.07 percent gain, closing at 9,140.70 points in Borsa Istanbul. While the BIST 100 index increased by 185.58 points compared to the previous closing, the total trading volume was 139.6 billion Turkish liras. The banking index gained 4.99 percent, while the holding index gained 1.84 percent. Among the sector indices, communication was the biggest gainer with 6.93 percent, while textiles and leather decreased the most by 3.40 percent.

The Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) raised the policy rate, the one-week repo auction interest rate, by 500 basis points to 50 percent.
